Flashcard Hero User Guide

Move decks from the Free to the Paid Edition

Preparation

  1. Download the Flashcard Hero backup utility here
and make a backup of your data on your desktop
  2. Move the free edition of the app (Flashcard Hero Free.app) from your Applications folder into the Trash (your decks will not be affected by this)
  3. If you haven’t done so already, download the paid edition from the Mac App Store (link)
  4. Now open the paid version of the app once (so that the data folders are set up by the app)

Locating the data stored with the Free edition

  1. Open a new Finder window
  2. Click the menu: Go > Go to Folder…
  3. Now enter the following (copy & paste) to show the data of the Free edition:
    • ~/Library/Containers/com.flashcardhero.free/Data/Library/Application Support/com.flashcardhero.free/
  4. Click on “Open” → You should see a new Finder window with the data of the Free edition (there will be a folder named “decks”)

Locating the data of the paid edition

  1. Back in Finder, once more click the menu: Go > Go to Folder…
  2. Now copy & paste this to open the data folder of the paid edition:
    • ~/Library/Containers/com.flashcardhero.mas/Data/Library/Application Support/com.flashcardhero.mas/
  3. Click “Open” → You should see a new Finder window with similar folders (the “decks” folder will have only one entry for the “Welcome” deck)

Copy the data

Now copy all files from the folders below from the Finder window with the data of the Free edition into the corresponding folder of the paid edition:

  • DeckLibrary_v1 (only if it exists)
  • decks (that’s where all your decks are kept)

Now close the paid edition of the app and open it again. You should see all your decks from the Free edition in the paid edition now.
